Atlanta, Bring in the New Year with Ashanti and Goodie Mob
After being canceled for two years, Atlanta is bringing back the New Years peach drop at the Underground.
The drop was canceled in 2019 due to problems with its location, and in 2020 because of the infamous Covid-19 pandemic. This year Atlanta has even more to look forward to with a live performance to take them into the new year.
The performance line up includes artists such as Ashanti, Goodie Mob, and Blanco Brown.
Fulton County Chairman Robb Pitts, who has frequented the drop since 1989, is very excited to see an old tradition coming back to his city.
“It’s something that many of us have grown up with and when we didn’t have it, it was sort of like there was a hole at the end of the year, beginning of the new year. Here we go once again. Something warm and fuzzy. Makes you feel good and all excited about 2022. We seem to be turning the corner, so I think people are looking for something to feel good about. So here’s something from the past that is now in the present, and it’s a feel good thing. So I say welcome back Peach drop.” – Chairman Robb Pitts
The city of Atlanta is going over their safety procedures to make sure that all of the guests are safe while enjoying the night.
