NFL Coach on Thin Ice After His Inexcusable Actions
Urban Meyer, who's in his first year as an NFL head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars, is already on thin ice and could lose his job after only coaching for four games.
According to TMZ, on Thursday night after the Jaguars lost to the Cincinnati Bengals to go 0-4, a video surfaced online of Urban Meyer getting grinded on by a woman. The big problem is that it wasn't his wife that he's been married to since 1986.
This is sadly not the first scandal that Urban Meyer has witnessed; back when he was a head coach at the University of Florida from 2005-2010, 31 of his players were arrested, and the biggest one was when his former tight end Aaron Hernandez was convicted and guilty of first-degree murder of Odin Lloyd in 2015.
He was also criticized and lashed out when while at Ohio State University in 2018, he kept Zach Smith hired as an assistant coach after news surfaced about Zach's domestic abuse of his wife, Courtney Smith. He was placed on administrative leave for three games and then retired because of "health concerns."
Earlier today, Jaguars owner Shad Khan responded to the incident and said, "I have addressed this matter with Urban. Specifics of our conversation will be held in confidence. What I will say is his conduct last week was inexcusable. I appreciate Urban's remorse, which I believe is sincere. Now, he must regain our trust and respect. That will require a personal commitment from Urban to everyone who supports, represents, or plays for our team. I am confident he will deliver."
During a press conference on Monday, Urban responded to the matter and said, "The team, I spoke to a bunch of leaders one on one, spoke to all the players. They're good. They're focused on Tennessee. I apologized again for being a distraction. A coach should not be a distraction."
If Urban Meyer is fired, the fans will probably not care because the team is one of the worst in the league right now at 0-4 and 2; this is not the first scandal he was involved in, and clearly, it seems he hasn't learned his lesson.
