Tyler Perry Expresses Hiring Writers and Directors For His Shows
Long-time producer Tyler Perry, famous as “Madea”, recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter article to discuss him finally wanting to hire some writers and production staff for his shows to relieve the heavy load of doing it all by himself.
Ever since Tyler Perry revealed his 330- acre lot of land including 12 studios, black twitter has repeatedly vocalized their concern of underrepresentation when it comes to other black writers and producers over his popular shows such as Sistas, BRUH, and much more. There has been an on-going joke about the wigs that the actresses wear in the shows and people have been expressing to Tyler Perry that he should hire more people on set.
Well, it looks like he may have heard them, but it’s not because of black twitter’s tweets. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tyler Perry wants to create more time for himself and wants to focus on his other projects.
“It’s going to be more of me overseeing, rather than doing the hands-on work. For the past six weeks, I was in the mountains. I wrote 72 episodes of television — just me in a room by myself, sitting out there, looking at the moose and the mountains. I treat it like a job.” Tyler Perry said. “Every morning, after I work out, I start writing at 7 and don’t finish until 7 in the evening. I do that every day until it’s done. I love it. And I love directing for 12- or 15-hour days. But I realize there’s so much more that I could be doing if I were to hand some of the other stuff off — rather than doing it all myself.”
Social media reacted to the news of this information as some were relieved to hear him wanting to open up an opportunity to writers and directors while others were looking forward to seeing him not involved in his projects.
